M42 - Orion Nebula

Below is my latest image of M42. It was taken on 01/17/05. There was a 1/2 moon in the sky. This is only my second image taken with the SBIG ST2000XM. Click on the image for a full size (slightly cropped) image.

Here is my first attempt at deep space astrophotography. They are both 50 second exposures on Fuji ASA 200 film, prime focus. I didn't have a wedge at the time, so they were taken in Alt/Az mode unguided. The negatives were scanned at 2400 DPI using my HP scanner. Further enhancement was done using Photoshop.
